SDC Quiet DUO™ ELR Kit
Security Door Controls (SDC) has introduced the LR100VDK and the LR100VD Electric Latch Retraction (ELR) Kits for compatible Von Duprin panic and fire rated exit devices. When the motor driven (460 mA inrush) Quiet DUO LR100VD is energized, the exit device latch retracts, pulling the push pad into the dogged position. The SDC LR100VD can be configured for momentary or sustained latch retraction in order to gain access. This ELR is compatible with Von Duprin 98/99 including XP Series, 33/35 Series and 22 Series exit devices.
For non-fire rated devices, this UL Recognized Component is field installable and has a five-year warranty. The LR100VD must be factory installed to gain the UL Listing for 3 hour fire rated exit devices. When shipped, it is no longer a Von Duprin exit device. It is officially a UL Listed SDC Product with a five-year warranty for both the mechanical exit device and electric latch retraction/dogging.

NORTON SAFEZONE
Norton has introduced the SafeZone™, an electromechanical door closer with holder mechanism that is designed to detect for movement within the door opening. If the built-in sensor detects movement, the SafeZone holds the door open at any degree as long as movement is detected in the opening.
The Norton SafeZone sensor area of detection is adjustable by size and direction. The sensor can be configured to detect movement at the exterior side of the door, the interior side or both the exterior and the interior sides of the door.
The SafeZone can be configured for either push- or pull-side installations. It is available in either 120VAC or 24VAC/DC inputs.

ILCO 009B TUBULAR KEY DUPLICATOR
Ilco has introduced the 009B Tubular Key Duplicator for duplicating tubular keys having an outer diameter of .377” and an inner diameter of .312”. This includes the Ilco 1137B brass and the 1137S steel tubular keys. These tubular keys commonly have seven cuts, each at 45 degrees apart and from the tab. The 009B will duplicate seven cut keys having offset spacing and eight cut keys, with the eighth cut at the base of the tab.
The 009B Tubular Key Duplicator has a transparent cover to protect against flying debris. To cut the keys, the tubular key machine is equipped with a 16TW end mill and is designed for 110VAC operation.

CAR-OPENING TECHNIQUES:
Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan
This month we will offer recommended car-opening techniques for the 2006-2010 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan and the 2006 Lincoln Zephyr. These four-door, mid-sized cars are equipped with totally shielded bicycle style cables instead of linkage rods inside the doors.
Important: These vehicles are equipped with multi-layer weather stripping that fits very tight.
Important: Failure to remove wedges prior to bringing the tool into the passenger compartment can result in the breaking of the window glass.
The following opening methods can be used to unlock the 2006-2010 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, and the 2006 Lincoln Zephyr.
Use the High Tech Tools Tool Long Inside Access #89 and a wedge to unlock the front passenger door locking mechanism. Insert the wedge just behind the inside lock release handle. Insert the Long Inside Access tool into the door cavity with the tip facing forward. Remove the wedge in order for the tool to slide into the door cavity. Lower the tool and rotate when it is beneath the bottom of the window glass. Carefully raise the tool until it can just be seen through the window. Stop and remove the wedge. Rotate the tool until the tip is on the passenger compartment side of the glass. Carefully raise the car opening tool until the tip is in the passenger compartment. Carefully manipulate the tool until it is positioned in front of the door lock button. Push the front of the button to unlock the locking mechanism. Carefully remove the tool according to manufacturer’s instructions.
Use the HPC CO-87 opening tool and a mechanical wedge to unlock the front passenger door locking mechanism. Begin by inserting the mechanical wedge above the front passenger door and adjust to wedge out an opening. Insert the sleeve between the rear edge of the doorframe and the body. Insert the CO-87 car-opening tool into the passenger compartment through the sleeve. Position the tip of the tool on the electric lock switch or button, or hook the inside handle and pull to unlock the door locking mechanism. Carefully remove the tool according to manufacturer’s instructions.
Use the Pro-Lok AO-35 “MCOT-Wide Tool” car-opening tool, the AO33 “MCOT-Separator Tool” and an inflatable wedge to unlock the rear passenger door locking mechanism. Begin by inserting the wedge ten inches from the front edge of the rear passenger door glass. Inflate the wedge. Insert the AO-33 tool one inch from the edge of the glass with the tip facing rearward. Insert the AO-35 into the passenger compartment nine inches from the front edge of the glass with the tip facing forward. Lower the tools into the door cavity 14 inches to reach beneath the bottom of the window glass. Deflate and remove the wedge. Lift the AO33 gradually working the tip of the tool into the passenger compartment. Rotate the AO35 tool in order to slide the tool into the passenger compartment. Once the tip of the tool is in the passenger compartment, manipulate the tool to in front of the manual lock-unlock button. Use the tip of the tool to unlock the locking mechanism. Carefully remove the tool according to manufacturer’s instructions.
Use the Slide Lock AutoBuster III™ car-opening tool and two wedges to unlock the front passenger door locking mechanism. Insert the two wedges with the first wedge towards the rear of the front door and the second wedge forward enough to accommodate the car-opening tool. Carefully insert the AutoBuster III with the tip pointing rearward. Lower the tool until the loop is beneath the weather stripping. Remove the two wedges. Rotate the car opening tool until loop is on the passenger compartment side of the window. Slowly maneuver the tool until the tip is within the passenger compartment. Manipulate the tip of the tool until it contacts the manual lock button or the power switch. Use the tip of the tool to unlock the locking mechanism. Carefully remove the tool according to manufacturer’s instructions.
Use Steck Manufacturing’s BigEasy “Glo” and a wedge to unlock the front passenger door locking mechanism. Begin by first inserting the wedge or inflatable wedge into the top corner of the door. Once the door has been wedged out, insert the BigEasy tool into the passenger compartment. Manipulate the tool to position the 90-degree bend tip against the lock-unlock rocker. Lever the tool over the inside door handle or lock-unlock mechanism. Unlock the locking mechanism in order to open the door.
Use the Tech-Train Productions TT-1015 car-opening tool and two wedges to unlock the front passenger door lock. Carefully insert the two wedges approximately eight inches apart, splitting the difference at the inside door handle. Carefully insert the TT-1015 into the door cavity with the tip pointing forward until the bend is beneath the window glass. Rotate the tool until the bend is on the inside of the vehicle and slowly raise the tool. As the bend becomes visible, stop and removed the two wedges. Continue to lift the TT-1015 until the tip is visible. Manipulate the tip of the car-opening tool until it contacts the lock control rocker. Use the tip of the tool to unlock the locking mechanism. Carefully remove the tool according to manufacturer’s instructions.
The direction to rotate the 2006-2010 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, and the 2006 Lincoln Zephyr driver’s door lock plug to the unlocked position is clockwise. There is no key lock on the front passenger door.
