Allegion US has enhanced the LCN 4040XP door closer to make the closer easier to install and maintain. No internal design changes were made: The closer retains the same performance, door prep and certifications. The external-only enhancements mean installers will benefit from reduced maintenance and an improved customer experience.
“With 50 percent of facility management professionals retiring in the next 5–15 years, it’s important for us at Allegion to meet the needs of the installers today and tomorrow,” says Yong Lacy, director of product management, Door Controls. “So, we took our most popular door closer — the LCN 4040XP — and made it even simpler to install while improving the user experience and reducing overall required maintenance.”
The 4040XP Series is LCN’s most popular door closer. The durable nonhanded, surface-mounted heavy-duty closer is designed for the most demanding high-use and -abuse applications. The enhancements to the LCN 4040XP door closer include:
- A new patent-pending positive stop staking feature that prevents screws from being backed out.
- Labeled regulation valves and a corresponding diagram to make adjustments more intuitive, faster and more consistent.
- An enhanced green dial that takes the guess work out of spring power adjustment.
- LCN’s logo on the casting, which makes product identification easier.
New digital resources also were added to simplify the installation process further for new facility management professionals. These include interactive installation instructions via a QR code on the closer.
