NEW YORK (April 21, 2015)—The Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association (BHMA) today announces Kerry Kirby, president of Architectural Division 8, Inc., as the recipient of the 2015 Award of Excellence for his commitment to the builders hardware industry, providing decades of quality service delivered by knowledgeable teams based in several key Texas locations.
Each year, BHMA recognizes a non-member distributor or hardware professional who has demonstrated excellence in representing the needs of architects, contractors, users and manufacturers. This year’s award will formally be presented by BHMA Executive Director Ralph Vasami during the CoNEXTions 2015/DHI Show at the Baltimore Convention Center in Maryland, held April 29-May 1.
“Kerry Kirby is a great example of all the virtues that this award stands for,” said Vasami. “His company provides quality work and products for the contractors in our industry and offers excellent continued service for the institutions they serve.”
Kirby has been involved in the hardware manufacturing industry for nearly 35 years, and is responsible for evolving his former company, Hutchison Supply Co., into Architectural Division 8, his own commercial door contracting company. Formed in 2003, Architectural Division 8 is involved in specifying and supplying a complete line of architectural hardware, in addition to hollow metal doors and wood doors. Since its foundation, Kirby has grown Architectural Division 8 from one office in San Antonio, TX, to a total of four offices throughout the state, including Austin, Harlingen and, most recently, Corpus Christi. Named the Associated General Contractors’ “Supplier of the Year” in both 2009 and 2013, the company currently employs four architectural hardware consultants and is actively writing specifications in each of its four locations.
BHMA has been recognizing leaders in their field with this award since 1989. Over the past quarter century, BHMA has honored 28 distributors and hardware professionals for their service and contributions to the successful projects of the building and architectural community.
