DHI Welcomes New Director of Technical Activities

WASHINGTON DC – The Door and Hardware Institute (DHI) has named Thomas Seidel as the association’s new Director of Technical Activities. Seidel is an experienced professional with over 30 years in the door, frame and hardware industry and holds several certifications including AHC, CDT, CSI and LSFDI.

Seidel began his career as an estimator and project manager for a Western Pennsylvania distributor before becoming the manager of two of its regional offices. He was most recently a training manager with ASSA ABLOY Academy. He has been engaged in the openings industry for over 33 years, having spent the last 22 years with ASSA ABLOY affiliated companies. Seidel has explored multiple roles with the organization, including Training Specialist, Distribution Representative, Architectural Consultant and Specification Writer.

Seidel is an Architectural Hardware Consultant member of DHI, having served twice as President of the Allegheny Chapter. He is also a member of Construction Specifications Institute and Associated Locksmiths of America, as well as a Certified Fire Door Inspector.

As the Director of Technical Activities, Seidel will be responsible for assessing DHI’s existing education program and developing plans that will enhance and expand it with revitalized offerings in the future.
