Securitron Maglock Corp. : Electronic Access Control Package Systems

June 1, 2008

Securitron Magnalock Corp. has developed more than 25 packaged electronic access control systems for controlling from one to three doors. These packaged electronic systems include the lock(s), the reader(s), the release mechanism(s) and any additional components, all designed for different applications with varying number of doors and features.

Each of the Securitron packaged systems has been developed for a specialized application. For example, the Securitron System #14 is designed for a single access door with free egress and remote release. This type of installation is applicable for an office or business, where unauthorized access needs to be controlled. The remote release permits controlled access without having to physically unlock the door.
There are two methods of gaining access using Securitron System #14. First, enter a valid code into the outside keypad to unlock the door. From the inside, free egress is available using a Touch Sense Bar. A remote request to exit (REX) button can be used to grant access to customers or other visitors.

These complete systems contain the components necessary for the application as well as recommended components for completing the installation. The component list for Securitron system #14 is:

Magnalock
Digital Keypad DK-26
Touch Sense Bar
Power Supply BPS-24-1
Door Cord
Battery B-24-4
Push button

The following is a list of the Securitron System applications. Each application describes the purpose of the electromechanical locking mechanism and the outside and inside operations. Each system is numbered for easy reference. The required components are listed in a generic format. Note: See system specifications to determine the proper components. Contact Securitron for information regarding fire-rated installation requirements.

Securitron System #01: Any monitored
access controlled egress door.
Outside Operation: Door is closed and locked by the Magnalock and access is via the Digital Entry.
Inside Operation: Door is closed and locked by the Magnalock. Activation of the Exit Motion Sensor (XMS) or the Emergency Exit Button (EEB) provides free and immediate egress from the area. Alarm monitoring is accomplished with High Security Door Position Switch And Alarm Shunt (MSS) is accomplished by the Digital Entry for both access to and egress from the area.

Securitron System #02: Any monitored access controlled door with a cylindrical latch set with storeroom function.
Outside Operation: Door is locked by the cylindrical latch set and access is via the Digital Entry.
Inside Operation: Door is locked by the cylindrical latch set. Approaching the door activates the XMS exit motion sensor, shunting the alarm panel and egress is made by turning the door handle. Alarm monitoring is accomplished with an MSS.

Securitron System #03:  Single access monitored door with free egress.
Outside Operation: Door is secured via the Magnalock; entry of a valid code on the Digital Entry allows access to the secured area and shunts the MSS-1C alarm contact.
Inside Operation: Free and immediate egress via the Touch Sense Bar (TSB).

Securitron System #04: Single door exit delay system with digital access/egress and key switch reset.
Outside Operation: Door is secured via the Magnalock; entry of a valid code on the Digital Entry allows access to the secure area and shunts the exit delay system as well as the alarm contacts.
Inside Operation: Door is secured via the Magnalock. Egress without causing an alarm is accomplished via valid code on the Digital Entry keypad. Emergency egress is accomplished by actuating the Sargent 12-55-8876 and waiting for the 15-second release delay period. System reset is via the master keyed key switch.

Securitron System #05: Any exit door where free egress is permitted.
Outside Operation: Door is secured via the Magnalock. Entry is permitted using an optional entry device that releases the magnetic lock.
Inside Operation: Door is secured via the Magnalock. Free egress is accomplished by pushing on the TSB that de-energizes the lock. Note: Securitron System #05 has options using different locking mechanisms for different applications.

Securitron System #06: Two separate single door “Interlock” system, where high security or atmospheric integrity (Clean Room) is a must.
Outside Operation: Vestibule door #1 is closed and locked by the Magnalock. Entering an authorized user code on the keypad (or other switching device) will de-energize the lock and allow access into the vestibule. Once the first door  secures, the second door  can be accessed in the same manner.
Inside Operation: Door #2 is normally closed and locked by the Magnalock. Activation of the TSB will de-energize the lock and allow egress into the vestibule. Once the second door secures, the first door  can be used for egress in the same manner.

Securitron System #07: Three Door Interlock where high security or atmospheric integrity (Clean Room) is a must.
Outside Operation: Vestibule doors #1 and #2 are closed and locked by the Magnalock. Entering an authorized user code on the keypad (or other switching device) will de-energize the lock and allow access. Once the first or second door is secured, the third door is accessed in the same manner.
Inside Operation: Door #3 is normally closed and locked by the Magnalock. activation of the TSB will de-energize the lock and allow egress into the vestibule. Once door #3 secures, doors #1 or #2 can be used to egress in the same manner.

Securitron System #08: Public restrooms in parks and day use areas.
Outside Operation: Doors are unlocked during normal times of operation. Outside normal operation hours, the doors are locked by the Magnalock and access is gained by use of the key switch.
Inside Operation: Doors are unlocked during normal times of operation. Outside normal operation hours, egress is gained by use of the TSB.

Securitron System #09: Any exterior door where controlled access and free egress is required and there is a concern that the door might be blocked open against the will of the building owner or tenants. (i.e. secured parking, apartment and dorm buildings)
Outside Operation: Door is closed and locked by the Magnalock. Entering an authorized user code on the keypad (or other switching device) will de-energize the lock and allow access.
Inside Operation: Door is normally closed and locked by the Magnalock. TSB will de-energize the lock and allow egress. If the door is blocked or held open for longer than the time pre-set on the Door Prop Alarm (30 sec, 60 sec, 120 sec or 240 sec), an alarm will sound. The alarm will silence once the door is secured.

Securitron System #10: Utility or supply closet.
Outside Operation: Door is closed and locked by the Magnalock. Entering an authorized user code on the keypad will de-energize the lock and allow access.
Inside Operation: Door is closed and locked by the Magnalock. Depressing the Push Button (PB) will de-energize the lock directly and trigger the Request to Exit (REX) on the Digital Entry Keypad for a pre-programmed release period of 1-60 seconds to allow egress.

Securitron System #11:  Two door interlock with doors normally locked, with key switch for emergency override.
Outside Operation: Vestibule doors #1 and #2 are closed and locked by the Magnalock. Entering an authorized user code on the keypad (or other switching device) will de-energize the lock and allow access. Once door #1 secures, door #2 can be accessed in the same manner.
Inside Operation: Door #2 is normally closed and locked by the Magnalock. Activation of the TSB will de-energize the lock and allow egress into the vestibule. Once door #2 secures, door #1 can be used to egress in the same manner.

Securitron System #12: Any door with first man in option through the use of a seven-day Digital Timer (DT).
Outside Operation: From a scheduled time, the DT will lock and unlock the doors at specific times. If the program for the DT has passed its opening time and the closure on terminals 3 and 4 has not been broken, it will remain locked until a valid code has been entered on the keypad (or other switching device). That will de-energize the lock and allow access into the vestibule and will also allow the DT to unlock the doors for the remainder of the scheduled time. After hours the Digital Entry will allow entry.
Inside Operation: Egress though the use of the TSB. The TSB will de-energize the Magnalock at any time.

Securitron System #13: Two door interlock with doors normally unlocked, with key switch for emergency override.
Outside Operation: Vestibule doors #1 and #2 are closed. Opening door #1 will lock down door #2. Once door #1 secures, door #2 can be opened.
Inside Operation: Door #2 is normally closed. Opening door # 2 will lock down door # 1. Once door #2 secures, door #1 can be opened. Holding either door open will lock the other door down until that door is re-secured.
