Salem, VA — Medeco announced the release of the Aperio™ M100HF eCylinder, part of a family of Aperio products available from ASSA ABLOY, the global leader in door openings.
The Medeco M100HF unit is a wireless, retrofit mortise, access control solution that uses wireless Aperio technology to communicate (IEEE 802.15.4) between the lock and an Aperio hub to provide real-time communication to the access control system. This simplifies installation, reducing costs and complexity compared to traditional access control to allow greater flexibility and accountability on interior facility doors.
Communication occurs with the use of an Aperio hub. The hub is a compact ‘antenna’ which receives communication data such as iClass card serial number, tamper notification, lock jamb, etc… from the Aperio cylinder and relays it to the EAC system. The hub is mounted within 50ft of the Aperio cylinder and is wired directly to the EAC control panel using either Wiegand or RS-485 protocol depending on the EAC system being used. Up to eight Aperio M100 cylinders can be paired to a hub (dependent on the EAC system). The M100HF is compatible with HID iClass credentials only.
ASSA ABLOY was recently awarded the 2013 BOM Top Products Award for its Aperio wireless lock technology. Award winners were 100% reader selected, by building and facility executives who participated in a national survey. Aperio was chosen from amongst 560 other products that were contestants in the survey.
