SIA Honors Rodger Schmidt of ASSA ABLOY With Volunteer of the Year Award
LAS VEGAS, NV – The Security Industry Association (SIA) recognized the outstanding industry contributions of Rodger Schmidt, Product Trainer for ASSA ABLOY Group brands Securitron, Adams Rite and HES, with the Sandy Jones Volunteer of the Year Award at ISC West 2015.
Schmidt was presented the award in a ceremony at The Advance, SIA’s annual membership meeting, which took place April 14, produced by ISC Events. SIA also presented the Sandy Jones Volunteer of the Year Award to Frank De Fina, executive vice president at SightLogix, Jim Crumbley, owner of Risk Response Team Inc., and Frank Gasztonyi, chief technology officer of Mercury Security Corp. Schmidt was honored for his development of instructor-led and online security project management courses and curriculum.
As a product trainer, Schmidt educates new and seasoned professionals in all elements of access control, including hands-on, site survey and code classes, as well as instruction on appropriate door scenarios and installation for Securitron products. He recently launched a new educational course, Maglocks: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, which addresses some of the misconceptions and historic confusion in codes and compliance around maglocks, why they are no longer valid, and how to take action to dispel those myths.
“Rodger has been an outstanding addition to the ASSA ABLOY family,” said Stacy Deveraux, Director of Product Management for Securitron. “His passion for teaching goes above and beyond, inspiring each and every one of his students to bring a new level of detail and excellence to their work.”
Schmidt said, “I am honored to be recognized by the Security Industry Association. Education is a passion for me and a key priority for ASSA ABLOY. Volunteering with SIA has been a great experience in working with professionals from the security industry to develop training materials, to share our knowledge and experiences with those who wish to grow in the industry.”
