Brivo announced Brivo Unified Credential, a cross-platform smart credential that’s compatible with select wireless locks and Brivo Smart Readers to improve security while leveraging existing door locks and devices. Brivo Unified Credential allows property owners and managers to issue a single keycard or fob that operates with Brivo Smart Readers, as well as select Schlage locks and battery-powered Aperio locks from ASSA ABLOY.
“With Brivo Unified Credential, we are simplifying and enhancing security, while also putting an end to insecure proximity cards,” says Brivo CEO and founder Steve Van Till. “Property managers and owners who demand the latest in access control can use Brivo Unified Credential when they also need the flexibility and convenience to leverage existing credentialed door locks and devices, without making any compromises when it comes to security.”
Properties today typically are equipped with a mix of installed locksets and proximity cards. The main issue with standard smart credentials is that every manufacturer has its own approach, which means customers are forced to replace all of their existing hardware with compatible devices or use proximity cards that aren’t encrypted and easy to duplicate. That isn’t necessary with Brivo Unified Credential.
