ALOA 2020, the annual convention held by the ALOA Security Professionals Association, is the latest tradeshow to be canceled as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The convention had been scheduled for July 19–25 at the Kansas City Convention Center in Kansas City, MO.
In a letter from Jim Wiedman, ALOA board president, he says the association made its decision after monitoring updates from multiple health and government officials so it could ensure the health and safety of convention participants. Because of ongoing travel and meeting restrictions, particularly for large groups, the association couldn’t hold the event.
“We appreciate the enthusiasm and commitment of our exhibitors and sponsors that make ALOA a great convention and hope to keep the momentum going with online classes throughout the rest of 2020,” Wiedman says. “We would like to invite exhibitors to sponsor those webinars as a different opportunity to get your brand in front of ALOA attendees.”
The association also will begin to turn its attention to ALOA 2021, which is set for July 29–30, 2021, in Orlando, Florida. Wiedman says the floor plan for ALOA 2021 would be available “in a few weeks” to begin choosing booth space and that credit for ALOA 2020 booth fees would be applied automatically towards ALOA 2021.
