LocDown by Marks USA
The Custom Lock Division of Marks USA has introduced the Maximum Security Mortise Lockset, designed specifically for school applications where the latch can be locked from both the outside and the inside.
The Series LA318GJ Classroom Intruder is an ANSI A156. 13-2012 Series 1000 Grade one. The LocDown is UL Listed 3 hour fire rated.
The LocDown uses a double cylinder, 5 series GJ function mortise lock body. Handing is reversible without having to open the lock case.
The outside key locks or unlocks the lock. In addition, the outside key will retract the latchbolt. The inside lock cylinder is single acting, rotating in only one direction that will lock the exterior lever only. Rotating the key in the opposite direction will not unlock the exterior lever. Inside lever is always free egress.
The LocDown Mortise Lockset has a cast satin stainless steel, thru-bolted escutcheon trim 8-1/2" by 2-3/4" by 7/16" and satin stainless steel lever handles.
The interior escutcheon has the word "LOCKED" with directional arrow engraved and black filled near the mortise cylinder. There is an occupancy indicator (red/green) recessed into the escutcheon above the lever handle. The indicator window is day-glo green when outside lever is unlocked and the indicator turns day-glo red when the outside lever is in the LocDown position.
The Marks USA LA318GJ Classroom Intruder has a lifetime mechanical limited warranty.

Car-Opening Techniques: 2006-2014 Honda Ridgeline
This month we will offer car-opening tool manufacturer's recommended techniques for opening the 2006-2014 Honda Ridgeline. The Ridgeline is equipped with shielded lock control linkage within the door.
Warning: The 2006-2014 Honda Ridgeline uses multi-layer weather stripping at the base of the window. Use a diluted mixture of dishwashing liquid and water to enable the car-opening tools to slide into the opening.
Be careful when you contact the lock buttons or the inside release handle. Too much force can result in scratching or marring the button or handle. Placing electrical tape over the tip of the tool can help protect the plastic controls.
The direction to rotate the driver's door lock plug to the unlocked position is counterclockwise.
The following opening methods can be used to unlock the 2006-2014 Honda Ridgeline:
Use the High Tech #74 Tool, Strip Save and a wedge to unlock the front passenger door locking mechanism. Lubricate the area. Carefully wedge out the front passenger door at the rear corner. Carefully insert the #74 car-opening tool into the door cavity with the tip facing rearward. Lower the tool until the tip's arch is beneath the bottom of the glass. Rotate the tool until the tip is on the passenger side of the glass. Carefully raise the car-opening tool until the curved tip starts to enter into the passenger compartment. Stop and remove the wedge. Raise the tool into the passenger compartment. Rotate the car-opening tool until the tip is facing forward. Carefully manipulate the tool’s tip to hook the inside vertical locking button lip. Raise the car-opening tool to unlock the locking mechanism. Lift up on the outside door handle to open the passenger door.
Use the Pro-Lok AO-27 “MCOT-Pull Handle” tool and an inflatable wedge to unlock the front passenger door locking mechanism. Lubricate the area. Begin by inserting the inflatable wedge 12 inches from the front edge of the passenger door window. Inflate the wedge according to manufacturer’s instructions. Insert the AO-27 tool 10 inches from the front edge of the window glass with the tip facing forwards. Lower the tool 17 inches into the door cavity until the tip is beneath the bottom of the window glass. Rotate the tool until the tip is on the passenger compartment side of the window glass. Deflate and remove the wedge. Carefully raise the tool until the tool enters the passenger compartment. Rotate the tool 135 degrees counterclockwise Lower the tool onto the electric lock/unlock button. Press down on the button portion to unlock the locking mechanism.
Use the Slide Lock Flush Mount Tool™ and two wedges to unlock the front passenger door locking mechanism. Lubricate the area. Insert the first wedge above the forward portion of the outside door handle assembly. Place the front wedge at approximately the inside vertical lock button. Carefully insert the Flush Mount Tool with the curved tip facing forward. Lower the tool until the tip is beneath the bottom of the glass. Rotate the tool until the tip is on the passenger side of the glass. Carefully raise the car-opening tool until the curved tip starts to raise above the weather stripping. Stop and remove the wedges. Slide the tool carefully into the passenger compartment. Manipulate the tool to having the tip underneath the inside vertical locking button lip. Raise the car-opening tool to unlock the locking mechanism. Lift up on the outside door handle to open the passenger door.
Use the Tech-Train Productions TT-1025 car-opening tool and two wedges to unlock the front passenger door locking mechanism. Lubricate the area. Insert two wedges six inches apart at the rear of the window. Carefully insert the TT-1025 tool into the door cavity with the tool pointing forward. Carefully lower the tool until the bend in the tool is beneath the bottom of the window glass. Rotate the tool counterclockwise until the bend is on the passenger compartment side of the window glass. Carefully raise the tool until the bend is just visible. Immediately remove the wedges. Continue to raise the tool until the tip is in the passenger compartment. Angle the car-opening tool until the rounded end of the tip is within the thumb notch in the vertical lock button. Gently rock the handle of the TT-1025 car-opening tool to lever the inside lock button up to unlock the door locking mechanism. Lift up on the outside door handle to open the door.
