Nominations are now open for Locksmith Ledger’s 2nd annual Gale Johnson Legends of the Lock Industry Awards, launched last year in memory of our late editor-in-chief and his lasting impact on the locksmith industry.
Industry members can nominate themselves or someone else whose contribution to their company or organization deserves recognition. Criteria include: job commitment, leadership, industry involvement, achievements, and contributions and/or innovations to the locksmith market.
Nominees from all industry segments are welcome: commercial locksmiths, institutional locksmiths, industry educators, locksmith distributors and lock and tool manufacturers, among others. Nominees must have at least 15 years of experience in the security industry.
The 2025 Legends of the Year winners will be recognized in the July issue of Locksmith Ledger and online at www.locksmithledger.com.
Coming in October: We will honor the rising stars of the industry with a new award category for industry leaders and innovators with less than 15 years of experience in the security industry. The deadline for submissions for this new category will be July 18.

- All nominations must include the nominees’ names, email addresses and a photograph.
- Because of privacy concerns, we require that nominees opt into being featured in the magazine. (Contact us for exceptions such as a surprise for someone in your company or for a memorial nomination.)
- All winners will be featured in the magazine and online. Winners will be contacted about purchasing additional, fully optional, upgrades such as cover photos or plaques.
- Deadline is April 18
