SUFFOLK -- Officials at King's Fork High, Suffolk, Va., arrived to a sticky situation at the school Tuesday morning.
When the school's plant engineer arrived at 6 a.m., he found every single exterior door -- 27 in total -- with coins glued into them. The coins were glued to part of the lock, preventing a key from being put in, city spokeswoman Diana Klink said.
The plant engineer was able to get into the school because one glued coin did not completely block its door, Suffolk schools spokeswoman Bethanne Bradshaw said. All the doors were then able to be opened from the inside.
A locksmith on staff is replacing all the lock cylinders, Bradshaw said.
Police are unsure if one or more people were involved in the incident, which happened either late Monday or early Tuesday. Administrators are reviewing security camera video to try to identify those involved, Bradshaw said.
The last day of school at King's Fork is Friday.
