STANLEY Security Awarded Extensive Contract with Arizona State University

April 24, 2015
New contract offers security services, maintenance, repair and training to all ASU campuses

Indianapolis, IN –  STANLEY Security, a leading global manufacturer and integrator of comprehensive security solutions for a wide range of industries, has been awarded an extensive contract with Arizona State University (ASU) – a public, flagship research university located on multiple campuses across the state of Arizona and throughout the U.S. Through the agreement, STANLEY will provide installation of security systems and accompanied support services, alarm monitoring, repair and preventive life cycle maintenance of integrated security platforms at all campus buildings and entities owned and occupied by ASU.

The contract encompasses each of ASU’s primary campuses in the state of Arizona, including the Tempe campus, the Downtown and West campuses in Phoenix, the Polytechnic campus in Mesa, the ASU Colleges in Lake Havasu City, the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, the SkySong Innovation Center in Scottsdale and the ASU Research Park in Tempe. The contract will also service ASU’s satellite campuses in Washington, D.C. and Santa Monica, CA.

With over 4,000 access control proximity readers, 1,500 video cameras and 200 duress systems to be managed and controlled across ASU’s campuses through the university’s Integrated Systems for ASU Access Control (ISAAC), STANLEY’s foremost responsibility as part of the contract will be to maintain a stable, reliable security environment that streamlines and ensures proper function of all components of ISAAC, the electronic control standard for all university departments and colleges. ISAAC is ASU’s prevailing, comprehensive security system, crucial in providing a safe environment for ASU students, staff and visitors, while still allowing for independence on campus. The system includes keyless and remote access control, video recording and forensic intelligence, panic alarm systems, intrusion detection and a fully engaged team to respond to any issues or repairs.

In addition to augmenting the services of ISAAC, STANLEY Security will engage in 24/7 alarm monitoring for the campuses – a new service to ASU – and STANLEY’s Software Solutions Group (SSG) will be charged with maintaining the campuses’ robust software environment, residing on multiple servers. With over 2 million transactions occurring across various security platforms on a daily basis, ASU awarded STANLEY Security the contract with the expectation that the organization’s numerous resources could be aptly applied to maintain a goal of 95%-99% function reliability for access control, surveillance and other solutions on campus at all times. In order to achieve this, STANLEY Security will supply ASU’s entities with an embedded Lenel Certified technical engineer to create a comprehensive system design document that can be incorporated into a developed standard for ASU’s security presence.

“ASU has over 76,000 students and more than 4,000 faculty and staff across our campuses whose protection is of the utmost priority,” said Laura Ploughe, Director, Business Applications and Fiscal Control for Arizona State University. “We’re looking forward to embarking on this relationship with STANLEY Security – a good, fiscally sound company with global leverage – that makes us confident in our unified ability to maintain a stable, compliant security environment that is scalable and performs seamlessly.

“With STANLEY, we believe we’ve found the best of the breed. STANLEY is a globally minded company that has proven to be driven and focused within the higher education security space, and we hope to build a mutually beneficial partnership with the existing knowledge that both STANLEY and ASU can provide to each other, our peers and other thought leaders within higher education. This more than just a contract with an integrator; this is the new partnership standard,” Ploughe said.

“We view this as the start of a highly collaborative, long-term partnership with Arizona State University,” said Kyle Gordon, Director, Higher Education – North America for STANLEY Security. “STANLEY’s commitment as a partner extends beyond technological innovations; through thought leadership and constant dialogue, we proactively identify potential needs to promptly provide the highest level of service for our clients. We’re highly invested in the higher education market, and we’re honored to be able to offer our dedicated resources to ASU to provide valuable security services to every campus founded by this premier university.”

In addition to bolstering the safety and security of ASU students, faculty and assets on campus, this award, due to the Arizona Board of Regents solicitation process, allows for other entities in the state of Arizona to participate in the same contract.

Essentially, any entities, sister institutions, community colleges or municipalities in the state of Arizona can be granted access to the state contract that has been publically bid on and awarded to STANLEY Security. STANLEY and ASU believe this greatly extends the value of the contract, offering widespread use of the crucial services provided by STANLEY through the agreement and fostering community network and engagement opportunities
