Westwood, Mass.- Security Lock Distributers, the nation's largest wholesale distributor of lock, architectural and access control hardware for locksmiths, contract hardware, glass, systems integrators and related industries, announced today it will sponsor a classroom at The Aaron M. Fish ALOA Training Center. The sponsorship honors the organization’s late president, Sidney Schwartz, a 2nd generation locksmith who worked in the lock and door security industry for more than 50 years.

“We are honored to contribute to ALOA in memory of my grandfather, Sidney Schwartz, who was a passionate leader of the security industry for decades,” said Jenna Schwartz, Director of Marketing and Communications at Security Lock Distributors. “To have his name on a classroom full of enthusiastic students, eager to expand their knowledge about the locksmith industry is only fitting.”

Sidney Schwartz was a true industry innovator. Mr. Schwartz contributed to the creation of the car cuf, an anti-theft lock for automobiles, and generated master key systems using algorithms in the 1960s, before computers were readily available. Additionally, Schwartz created installation tools used to install locks that are still used by locksmiths today.

“ALOA is grateful for the support from Security Lock Distributors and the Schwartz family in memory of Sidney Schwartz,” said Noel Flynn, Director of ALOA. “Mr. Schwartz was a talented leader within the locksmith industry, and we are proud that his legacy will be remembered for generations of locksmiths to come via this donation.”

ALOA seeks to provide the best quality education possible by offering over 200 full-day instructor-led training programs through regionally sponsored classes at the annual ALOA Convention & Security Expo and through the ALOA Training Center. Through the ALOA Scholarship Foundation, entry level locksmiths can apply for training assistance.
