Safety Technology International President Margie D. Gobler is retiring, and current Vice President of Finance, Operations, and HR Matthew Daniels, has been appointed by the board of directors to fill the position.
Gobler, who succeeded her father, John (Jack) D. Taylor, the Founder of STI, as President in 2002, will remain in an advisory capacity pending her retirement effective March 31, 2021. Gobler, along with Lori Lynn Taylor and John F. Taylor, will continue to serve as members of the board after her retirement. Daniels was named president effective Feb. 1, 2021.
As a member of the STI management team from the inception of the company, Gobler played a key role in STI’s development. After attending Central Michigan University and obtaining an Associate Degree from Oakland Community College, Gobler graduated from the Owner/President Management program at Harvard Business School. When Taylor retired, Gobler became STI president and one of the owners.
“It has been an honor and privilege leading STI through a transformative journey,” Gobler says. “From starting in a home basement, to opening an office in England (1994), to expanding into multiple buildings in Waterford, Michigan, and opening an office in China, now, the company is recognized as a global leader in helping to prevent false fire alarms. “The company’s future is extremely encouraging, and I look forward to a smooth transition and continual growth.”
Daniels brings more than 20 years of experience in manufacturing to his new role as STI’s president. A graduate of Walsh College, he brings a wealth of knowledge, ideas and excitement into this new milestone. With his commitment and drive, Daniels looks forward to helping STI continue to grow in the fire, access control and security industry.
