KEYS FOR TOOL BOXES

There has been a significant increase in questions and code requests for tool box lock keys. We have access to many of the tool box key codes; however, there are many new tool box locks being introduced. For example, Kobalt Tool Boxes are sold at Lowes. The key blank is not available at this time in the after market and we have only a few of the key codes. If you need parts or keys for Kobalt Tool Boxes, call Industrial Hardware Distributors at 330-762-8836.

If you decode any tool box locks, please send the information to the Locksmith Ledger so we can share it with others.

SECURITRON CEPT

Securitron Magnalock Corp. has introduced the Concealed Electric Power Transfer (CEPT), designed to route the wiring between the jamb and the door in order to power an electromechanical lock mechanism. The Concealed Electric Power Transfer is normally installed into the door and jamb within the upper third of the opening. The all metal construction CEPT can provide a significantly greater amount of current and wires than an electrified butt hinge and provides a non-exposed environment unlike a surface mounted door loop. It is designed to function with standard butt hinges up to six inches. The CEPT is UL10C rated.

The CEPT is available in three configurations containing nine to 12 wires for ASSA Abloy’s ElectroLynx style connectors.

The CEPT is covered by Securitron’s MagnaCare Lifetime Replacement Warranty.

A POOR EXAMPLE

At the recent ALOA Convention, I stayed in a condominium that was part of a large resort. The included photo is of the door key. So much for security. I think the person who keyed up the door locks should have attended the convention to learn how to master key properly.

CELL PHONE INFO

Calling a cell phone and having to wait to leave a message is really annoying. According to an e-mail I received, you can skip the message by pressing a button that varies depending upon the provider. If you call someone who uses AT&T or T-Mobile, press the “#” button to skip the message and go directly to the beep before being able to record your message. For Sprint users, press the “1” key, and for Verizon users, press the “*” key.
