The original Ford Motor Company transponder-equipped key blank is a glass ampoule containing the electronics. This transponder key blank was introduced with the 1996 Ford Taurus, Mustang and Mercury Sable models. The transponder was embedded into the plastic head during the molding process.
It appears all the original equipment transponder-equipped key blank manufacturers use the embedding technology to install the transponder. This method has not changed even though most, if not all, of the transponders now manufactured are a ceramic IC chip.
In 2004, JMA opened the North American distribution center. JMA, part of the Altuna Group, manufactures more than 15,000 different key blank numbers and produces more than 650 million key blanks a year. The JMA aftermarket automotive transponder-equipped key blanks have the OEM style heads. The difference is these key blanks are manufactured with a transponder chip slot in the plastic head. The transponder chip is positioned and secured within the key head by a removable insert.
Important: The JMA clonable transponder chips receive power from the coil antenna, just like the OEM transponder chip.
This transponder key design enables JMA to sell key blanks with or without a transponder chip. JMA sells transponder chips separately. In addition, if there is more than one transponder chip usable by the key blank; for example a keyway used by two different manufacturers and/or two different transponder chips, only one key blank needs to be manufactured and the different chips can be installed or made available.
This design benefits locksmiths as the key blanks can be ordered with or without the transponder chip. Transponder chips can be removed from customer’s keys and installed into a JMA key blank. This eliminates the need to program or clone the transponder.
In addition, if a vehicle needs a key blank that is not in stock, a locksmith can take a key blank with the correct blade, remove the proper transponder chip from another key blank, and build a key blank with the proper transponder chip.
JMA transponder chips come in three configurations: programmable chips, single clone chips and clonable chips that can be cloned more than once. Programmable transponder chips have a set value that can be used to program a vehicle using either on-board programming or a programming device.
Single clone transponder chips (TPX2 prefix) have no value. The value must be cloned using a compatible cloning device. Once this value has been cloned, the transponder chip cannot be cloned to a different value.
The third configuration is the clonable transponder chip (TPX1 or TP05 prefix) that can be cloned more than once.
Note: Single cloned and multiple clonable transponder chips can be programmed using a programming device or on-board programming once the chip has a value.
JMA KEY BLANKS
The following is a list of JMA transponder-equipped key blanks that have no known aftermarket cross-reference. Some of the key blanks are equipped with programmable transponder chips and some of the key blanks are equipped with clonable transponder chips.
Important: The clonable transponder chips have no value. Never attempt to program a no value clonable transponder chip-equipped key blank. This can cause a deadly fault to the on-board computer system requiring the vehicle to be towed to a dealer to resolve the problem.
The following Audi CAN-equipped vehicles can be programmed using the JMA TP25HU-HAA.P key blank. The Audi model years include:
2003-08 A8/S8
2006-08 A3/A4/S4/A6/S6/ Allroad Quattro and TT
This transponder chip cannot be reused in another vehicle.
The 1997- 01 Cadillac Catera transponder-equipped key blank, TP09OP-S.P is designed to be programmed, not cloned. This transponder can be reused with another vehicle.
The 1999-02 Mercury Cougar, 1997-00 Ford Contour and 1997-00 Mercury Mystique are equipped with the Ford 10-Cut lock mechanism. The clonable JMA key blank is the TPX1FO-16D.P. This transponder can be reused with another vehicle.
The 2006-08 Hyundai Azera transponder-equipped key blank, the TP12TOYO-18.P is designed to be programmed. This transponder chip cannot be cloned or reused with another vehicle.
The anti-theft-equipped 2006-07 Hyundai Entourage and the 2007-08 Santa Fe transponder equipped key blank, the TP12HY-6D.P1, is designed to be programmed. This transponder chip cannot be cloned or reused with another vehicle.
The programmable transponder-equipped key blank for the 2003-04 Isuzu Axiom and the 2006-08 Rodeo is the TP08HOND-21.P. This transponder chip cannot be cloned or reused with another vehicle.
The 2000-06 Jaguar S type transponder-equipped key blank, the TP06FO-6.P is programmable. This transponder chip cannot be cloned; however, it can be reused with another vehicle.
The 2000-06 Jaguar S type transponder-equipped key blank, TPX2FO-6.P, is clonable. This transponder chip can be reused with another vehicle.
The 2002-06 Jaguar X type, 2000-05 XJ and the 2000-06 XK transponder-equipped key blank, TP06JAU-1.P, is programmable. This transponder chip can be reused with another vehicle.
The 2002-06 Jaguar X type, 2000-05 XJ and the 2000-06 XK transponder-equipped key blank, TPX2JAU-1.P, is clonable. This transponder chip can be reused with another vehicle.
The programmable transponder-equipped key blank for the 2004-08 Kia Amanti is the TP19TOYO-18.P. This transponder chip can be reused with another vehicle.
The clonable transponder-equipped key blank for the 2004-08 Kia Amanti is the TPX2TOYO-18.P. This transponder chip can be reused with another vehicle.
The following Lexus vehicles can be programmed using the JMA TP29TOYO-36.P transponder-equipped key blank and cloned using the TPX2TOYO-36.P. The Lexus model years include:

The Mazda 2004-09 RX8 and 2004-09 3 Series vehicles can be programmed using the JMA TP20MAZ11D.P2. This transponder chip can be reused with another vehicle.
The Mitsubishi 2007-09 Endeavor, 2007-09 Galant and the 2008-09 Lancer vehicles can be programmed using the JMA TP12MIT-8D.P2. This transponder chip cannot be reused with another vehicle.
The following Volkswagen CAN-equipped vehicles can be programmed using the JMA TP23HU-HAA.P1.

This transponder chip cannot be reused with another vehicle.
The 2008-09 Subaru Impreza equipped with the four-track high security lock mechanism can be programmed using the TP28SUB2.P. For cloning the 2008-09 Subaru Impreza four track, use the TPX2SUB2.P key blanks. These transponder chips can be reused with other vehicles.
