Chrysler, Dodge Jeep Tip
If someone attempts to start a Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep vehicle six times without a properly programmed transponder-equipped key, the vehicle goes into Super Theft mode. In this mode, the vehicle cannot be started, even with a properly programmed key. The vehicle cannot be programmed to accept another key.
One way to exit the Super Theft mode is to attach a battery charger and turn the ignition to the On position. This can be accomplished using a metal head key just to reset the system. The ignition must remain in the On position for one hour in order to reset the system. After the hour, the system goes through a Hard Code Reset. The vehicle can then be programmed. One way of knowing the Hard Code Reset has occurred is the fuel pump pressurizes when ignition turn to On position.

STRATTEC Update
STRATTEC remains committed to supplying the most components for lock and keys to the locksmith market through licensing agreements with Ford. In the last couple of years, STRATTEC continues to enjoy a majority share of production vehicles; however Huf manufacturing still remains as a supplier because of the need for Ford to dual-source their components. STRATTTEC has now expanded their license to be able to source product manufactured by Huf for supply into the locksmith market.
Adding to the complexity of dual manufacturers, Ford has also been evolving into the high security keyways in the North American market. STRATTEC was one of the first to receive business in high security key ways with the 2011 Ford Fiesta. This vehicle contains multiple key options including plain, FOB, and passive (5915237, 5913139/5912976, and 5919918). Also available are an ignition repair kit for non-PEPS (7020058) and a door lock repair kit (7020057).
The Ford Fiesta was just the beginning and in 2012 and 2013, many more vehicles will be moving to the high security key way. The latest two examples of this are the 2012+ Focus and the 2013+ Escape. These vehicles utilize various configurations of keys. The base 2012 Focus uses a 4 button IKT side mill (5921709) where as the Escape for 2013 uses a 3 button IKT(5921707) side mill as a base key . In 2013, the Focus will have an electric option (Focus BEV) which will utilize a new passive FOB that is just released. This key will be similar in look to the current generation of 4 and 5 button passive fobs (5921285,5921286,and 5921288), but the board architecture is European (Still 315 MHZ) and will not be compatible with these FOBS. It can be identified with the emergency key removed and the Ford FOB number CJ5T-15K601-Dx revealed that is different from the other FOBS. The new STRATTEC part number for the FOB is 5923790. The available emergency key, 5923267 which utilizes an extended code series, will be housed inside the FOB. This PEPS key will also be utilized on the 2013 Escape equipped with an optional passive ignition. The soon to be released 2013 C-Max Energi will also incorporate this passive FOB.
In addition to keys, STRATTEC has also sourced repair kits for the Ford 2013+ Escape and 2012+ Focus. The repair kit for the ignition is part number 5923045. The repair kit for the door is the 5923044. Although STRATTEC recently released a pinning kit for high security applications, part number 7023068, this kit does not cover these two repair kits as the tumblers are not the same as the STRATTEC manufactured components.
The newly redesigned 2013 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ utilize either a flip blade push button(Ford 4 button flip-5924003) key or in the case of the Lincoln, passive keys only. There are both 4 and 5 button configurations used on both vehicles (Ford 4 button PEPS – 5923895,Ford 5 button PEPS – 5923896,Lincoln 4 button PEPS – 5923897,Lincoln 5 Button PEPS - 5923898). The emergency key for the passive unit is housed inside the FOB (4223891). There are currently no lock repair kits available for these vehicle applications.
