Cage Riot Studios is a Los Angeles-based rehearsal and recording space that gives artists the ability to practice and record new music while also making attractive online video content for marketing and social media. The studio is comprised of three recording and rehearsal rooms that are open 24-hours a day and which can be booked for hourly to daily slots via its website.
As with many music studios, Cage Riot Studios needs to safely store a large amount of specialty instruments and music production technology. It had also renovated its studios to have versatile and beautifully decorated spaces equipped with sets, stages, venue lighting, and cameras including GoPros.

Cage Riot Studios Managing Partner and CFO Craig Claro had personal experience with poor locks in the past, having toured with musicians extensively. he CL5210 NetCode is a heavy-duty electronic mortise tubular latch lock equipped with Codelocks’ NetCode Technology that allows users to generate date and time-sensitive temporary access codes shareable via email or SMS. The mortise lock is part of the CL5000 NetCode Range. The codes are generated effortlessly through Codelocks’ Connect Portal, or can be integrated into bespoke software using the Codelocks API. NetCodes can be created to allow access for one hour or up to one year, and can be configured for single- or multi-use.
The electronic lock is battery-powered and will operate 200,000 times per battery. No internet connection is required for customers’ codes to work, and the process is fully remote and enables self-service access without the need for keys or fobs. In case of forgotten codes, the CL5210 has ‘master code’ access and code-free, keyed entry.
Pitch-Perfect, Self-Service Results
Cage Riot can now effortlessly and remotely manage access control for musicians and artists using its recording and rehearsal studios through a simple process. Musicians book a time slot through the Cage Riot Studio website, and then studio managers log into the Codelocks Connect Portal to create a one-time access code for their booking. The studio manager then emails the code to the musicians, who then have hassle-free, self-service access to the space as soon as they arrive at the studio.
Having self-service access is something customers appreciate, which has led to an enhanced overall customer experience. “The customers love that there is no unnecessary interaction with a staff member”, said Claro. “Our customer experience is rated higher because we have Codelocks.”
