New Programs, Standards to be Discussed at BHMA’s 2015 Annual Fall Meeting
NEW YORK – The Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association (BHMA) will hold its Annual Fall Meeting from October 13th-15th at the Trump National Doral luxury resort in Miami, Florida. BHMA’s annual meeting is the venue for benchmarking the progress toward the association’s strategic goals and for BHMA technical teams to move forward with updates to the following ANSI/BHMA standards:
- ANSI/BHMA A156.1 Hinges
- ANSI/BHMA A156.23 Electromagnetic Locks
- A156.10 Power-Operated Doors
- A157.27 Revolving Doors
In addition, technical teams are also developing new standards for battery-powered locks and for ligature resistant locks. “We’ve been quite busy here at BHMA over the last year. BHMA’s involvement in the development of building codes is ongoing,” said Ralph Vasami, BHMA’s Executive Director. “When you factor in the rollout of BHMA’s new residential standards program it is hard to understate the expansion of BHMA’s scope and reach – and the numerous contributions BHMA has made to our industry since its inception almost a century ago.”
Originally founded in 1925 as the Hardware Manufacturers’ Statistical Association (HMSA), BHMA will be commemorating 90 years of service as part of this year’s annual meeting. Today, more than 80 percent of all U.S. manufacturers of builders hardware are BHMA members and, together, they produce the vast majority of the hardware used in the nation’s commercial and institutional buildings. BHMA has authored some 39 commercial and residential standards since the program launched in 1964, and continues to uphold its mission to ensure the quality and performance of builders hardware for the safety of all North Americans.
