HES, an ASSA ABLOY Group brand, is now shipping three new products that extend current platforms with new functionality, the K200 Series cabinet lock, the KS200 Series server cabinet lock and the 9700 Series electric strike. By leveraging the same overall lock design, these line extensions make it easy for an installer, using the same templating and tools.
The K200 cabinet lock and the award-winning KS200 server cabinet lock provide a Wiegand solution for customers that prefer a wired alternative to the highly successful K100 and KS100 wireless cabinet locks with Aperio® technology. The HES cabinet lock portfolio now includes six locks, offering solutions that range from the compact and economical 610 Series to the higher security 660 Series and the K100, K200 and KS100 and KS200 Series with integrated readers.
Developed specifically to protect data center servers, the HES KS200 server cabinet lock extends access control to protect data center information from intrusion and costly downtime, by bringing real-time access control in a single-card system to individual server cabinet doors. Designed to install quickly and easily, with little or no modification to the server cabinet, the KS200 uses Wiegand wiring to integrate seamlessly with existing ID badges and access control systems.
“With 8.6 million data centers estimated globally by 2017, this market is rapidly realizing the importance of deploying physical security protection not only at the door to the server room, but at the server cabinet itself,” said Michael Webb, Vice President of New Product Development, ASSA ABLOY EMS&OEM Group.
Ideal for medical and education applications, the HES K200 cabinet lock makes it simple and cost effective to bring access control to wood or metal cabinets and drawers, offering a convenient, single credential solution for compliance and protection of pharmaceuticals, expensive supplies and sensitive records throughout the facility. Using Wiegand communication between the multi-technology reader and an existing access control system, it enables real-time audit capabilities and door monitoring at the drawer or cabinet level.
“When you need to add a layer of security to manage and protect the valuable digital or physical assets of your facility – whether it’s a data center or a hospital – HES has the locking solution to meet your needs,” continued Webb.
The heavy-duty 9700 Series electric strike is also available, for those requiring a fire-rated and windstorm-rated solution for square bolt exit devices. Built on the same platform as the popular 9400, 9500 and 9600 Series surface mounted electric strikes, the 9700 Series extends the family of surface mounted electric strikes with a solution that works with Corbin Russwin SecureBolt® and Yale Squarebolt® exit devices. It is burglary rated, fire rated, windstorm rated and exceeds Grade 1 standards for strength and performance, matching the high security, certifications and durability of the exit devices it works with. Additionally, it is available is six finishes to match any décor, enabling building designers to match the exit device and other hardware finishes throughout the facility.
“Just as our cabinet locks deliver greater security and flexibility within a facility – the new 9700 electric strike gives customers a square bolt solution that has been independently tested by a third party laboratory,” added Webb. “Our goal is to offer the very best products for every type of access control application.”
