Locksmith Ledger reported on the fourth annual SAVTA convention held in Lexington Kentucky. Solutions for opening a vandalized Amsec T2-15 money safe were discussed. A noteworthy Ziptide letter suggested three-point locking system and questioned the security of normal deadbolt locks. Tim O'leary wrote of new advancements in products from Alarm Lock. Ledger carried articles on the Panasonic digital recorder, the Securitron Unlatch electric strike, Sanyo day/night cameras, RCI card readers and the Security Door Control E72 Entrycheck. Jerry Levine developed a chart on transponder keys by make, year and model. Dick Zunkel showed troubleshooting procedures for mag locks and exit devices. Jerry Levine described the Falcon Z series lever lock. Gale Johnson reported on the depth and spacing for OMM furniture locks. Jerry Levine toured the Emtek Lock facility in California. Dennis Baxter described how to fit keys to a Toyota using his tryout keys. Wilson Bohannon told why their small company is a good one to do business with. Milt Wolferseder opened a Survivor safe by Sentry Safe. Sean Artz showed a new peel & stick installation template by LCN. Tiny fit keys to a 2000 Volvo Semi tractor. ASSA ABLOY COMES TO TOWN
Don't miss the ASSA ABLOY roadshow if it comes to your area. Locksmith Ledger recently visited the roadshow during its stop at the carpenter training center in Chicago, IL. More than a dozen local ASSA ABLOY sales people were on hand to explain their product lines, answer audience questions and act as hosts for the event. Institutional and commercial locksmiths were first treated to a continental breakfast before starting the training cycle. The locksmiths were divided into smaller groups and had the opportunity to both visit the ASSA ABLOY Mobile Innovation Showroom and to attend very informational classes on access control and life safety regulations for buildings.
Admission is free and the four hour event was well worth the time spent.
