Code Card of the Month
Many locksmiths use code machines which require cards for accurate origination of keys. New key blanks and depth/space dimensions continue to appear. Our database contains more than 2,000 individual records while code machine companies offer only approximately 300 different cards for their machines. As a solution, Locksmith Ledger will offer new code cards each month which can be downloaded free of charge from the LocksmithLedger.com website. Access the October Code Card of the Month at www.locksmithledger.com/12002551.
Subscribers can send requests for special code cards to [email protected]. Cards offered on our website in coming months will be based on the most popular reader requests.
Keys In The Cloud
Editor:
“If vehicle and cycle security continues the same trend, one day soon vehicle security codes for every car and cycle may be saved in the 'cloud,' cell phones will instantly retrieve the information to operate the vehicle and key rings will become collectibles. It could happen.” –www.locksmithledger.com/ 11653689
This quote is an understatement. I expect my phone to have a smart transponder that will send my code for this device I want to access/activate whenever I'm in proximity to it. Some devices will require an on-screen prompt ("Unlock car?"), while others will just do it. This will prevent unauthorized duplication of your codes while walking down the street. Smarter Internet-enabled devices will be authenticated to a trusted service every time, so you'll be certain it's your home's front door that's asking for the code, and not some passer-by.
Locksmithing will become a job for mechanics and programmers!
