ASIS Accolades Names Best New Products
The 2015 ASIS Accolades Awards recognized the security industry’s most innovative new products, services and/or solutions. The 10 winners and their products were showcased at the ASIS International 61st Annual Seminar and Exhibits (ASIS 2015), Sept. 28–Oct.1 in Anaheim, Calif. More than 20,000 security, business and government professionals from more than 90 countries attended ASIS 2015.
The 2015 ASIS Accolades Competition: Security’s Best Award winners are:
Amika Mobile Corporation: AMS Platform for Enterprise Security with Internet of Things, Judge’s Choice Award Winner
Amika® Mobility Server (AMS), an intelligent physical security platform addresses enterprise security with the Internet of Things while monitoring, analyzing, and tracking massive user alert/ response and location. It receives thousands of simultaneous events from disparate sensors or recipients triggering cascaded alert/response in real-time to ANY communication layer or device.
ASSA ABLOY: EcoFlex Electrified Mortise Lock Platform with High Security Monitoring
The EcoFlex mortise lock platform provides internal end-of-line resistors for comprehensive monitoring of the circuit between the access control panel and lock. End-of-line resistors are commonly improperly installed at the access control panel or above the door, leaving the wiring to the lock vulnerable to undetected tampering or damage. In addition, the labor to add end-of-line resistors at the site increases installation costs and jeopardizes quality by relying on manual installation.
Integrating the end-of-line resistors into the lock not only eliminates the risk of undetected tampering, but reduces installation costs, simplifies specification, and offers the assurance of a factory installed and tested product.
EcoFlex electrified mortise locks are also now available with a deadbolt privacy function that disables remote access control unlocking (such as a keypad) or scheduled unlock when the deadbolt is engaged. This option is ideal for personal privacy areas such as nursing rooms, on-call doctors’ rooms, and restrooms.
“When we added the option for high security monitoring to the EcoFlex platform, our goal was to elevate an existing access control technology by providing an even greater level of functionality and increased security for a variety of applications,” said Peter Boriskin, VP of Product Management, ASSA ABLOY. “Receiving this recognition from the ASIS organization is one of the highest honors we can achieve for a new technology.”
HES: HES KS200 Server Cabinet Lock
HES, an ASSA ABLOY Group company, is introducing two new locks this year at ASIS 2015, the K200 Cabinet Lock and KS200 Server Cabinet Lock, which was recognized last week in the 2015 ASIS Accolades Competition for a Security’s Best Award. The K200 and KS200 expand the current HES cabinet lock portfolio, building upon the K100, KS100, 610 Series and 660 Series.
Ideal for medical and education applications, the HES K200 Cabinet Lock makes it simple and cost effective to bring access control to cabinets and drawers, offering a convenient, single credential solution for compliance and safety throughout the facility. Using Wiegand communication between the multi-technology reader and an existing access control system, it enables real-time audit capabilities and door monitoring at the drawer or cabinet level.
With over 3 million data centers in the U.S., this growing market is demanding critical protection for not only its perimeters and interior openings, but also its server cabinets. The HES KS200 Server Cabinet Lock extends access control to protect data center assets from intrusion and expensive downtime, by bringing real-time access control in a single-card system to individual server cabinet doors. Designed to install quickly and easily, with minimal modifications on most swing-handle style server rack doors, the KS200 uses Wiegand wiring to integrate seamlessly with existing access control systems and ID badges. It supports a Small Format Interchangeable Core (SFIC) mechanical key override and provides robust, cost-effective access control to meet strict regulatory compliance and protect data.
“There is a critical need in today’s environment to control access to drawers and cabinets that contain medication, supplies, documents, data and more,” said Michael Webb, Vice President of New Product Development, ASSA ABLOY EMS&OEM Group. “We’ve seen tremendous growth in this market beyond our existing cabinet locks, and are proud to expand our offerings in this space with the additions of the K200 and KS200.”
