Killeen Security Products (KSP) began with one concept: to manufacture quality small format interchangeable core lock cylinders (SFIC) at an affordable price and with a timely delivery schedule. That was in 1983. The KSP reputation continues to grow along with their expanding line of IC core cylinders, housings and servicing tools.

KSP lock cylinders are available in all popular SFIC industry-standard keyways including A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, Q, 1C & 1D. In addition, a KMT300 keyway is offered.  KMT300 cylinders and key blanks are not restricted but the unusual keyway does aid building owners by providing an additional barrier against the wrong person easily obtaining a duplicate key at a big box outlet.

Interchangeable cores are available in US4 (dull brass) or US26D (dull chrome) finishes. List price is identical for either finish. KSP offers both 6-pin and 7-pin versions.

SFIC locks from KSP can ordered either with the original individual pin cap design or with a newly designed slide cap design. Slide caps require no special servicing tools and caps can be reused. KSP offers a capping block (KSP part #606) to simplify servicing cylinders which have individual caps. Brass capping strips (KSP part #614) can be inserted into a slot in the capping block. The staking tool quickly punches a set of slugs out of the brass strip and fastens the complete set of slugs into the cylinder body with a single strike of a hammer.  During disassembly for rekeying, an ejector punch (KSP part #610) is available. The ejector punch can be inserted into small holes located on the bottom of the lock housing to dislodge individual pin caps and to clear each pin chamber of old springs and pins.

Complete I/C core Pin kits are also available. Key systems for SFIC lock cylinders are known as A2, A3 or A4 systems.  A2 systems use .0125 depth increments; A3 systems use .018 depth increments and A4 systems use .021 depth increments. KSP offers individual pinning kits for each of the three types of key systems.

Convertible Housings

The newest products from KSP are Convertible Housings. Parts are included in each package for field-changing the convertible lock cylinder for use as either a mortise or rim cylinder. First, convertible housings are drilled to accept two rim cylinder retainer screws and housings are also threaded for mortise lock installations. Second, the cam retainer is drilled and tapped to accept cam screws. Five different cam shapes are available including standard, Adams Rite, Clover shape, Sargent and Schlage style cams.  A rim cylinder tailpiece and tail piece holder can be installed onto the cam retainer when a rim cylinder configuration is required.

KSP convertible housings are available to accept LFIC lock cylinders made by Sargent, Schlage, Medeco, Corbin Russwin, Yale and KSP/Best/Arrow/ Falcon (SFIC) cylinders.  A Convertible Housing Kit contains one each of the six cylinder types plus cams, tailpieces and hardware, making locksmiths ready for any keying option required in the field.  For mortise lock installations, an internal set screw to deter cylinder wrenching can be tightened against the lock housing before the I/C cylinder is installed. This is one more added benefit.

Convertible housings are an addition to an extensive line of cylinder housings. Non-convertible cylinder housings are available in 1 1/4", 1 3/8", 1 3/4" and 1 7/8" lengths.

Tapered head mortise cylinders for aluminum door installations and rim cylinders complete the KSP cylinder housing lineup. Housings can be ordered with either screwed-on or staked -on cams.  Replacement drive pins, washers and five different staked cam shapes can be ordered for field-changing housings which have staked-on cams.

EX Series Key System

Another KSP innovation is their EX series keyway system. EX I/C lock plugs contain a tapered extension.  Keyway grooves are milled to the front of the tapered section.  The result is that standard length key blanks are prevented from fully entering the lock plug and key cuts cannot be aligned with pin tumblers. Elongated length key blanks from KSP will enter fully and operate the lock cylinder. KSP EX keys can also operate existing I/C locks which do not have the EX tapered plug feature. This allows locksmiths to either replace all I/C cylinders in a building for utmost security or to upgrade security in important areas of a building while keeping the existing cylinder system in other building areas. EX Series lock cylinders can be ordered with any of the industry-standard keyways mention earlier.

Factory-made masterkey systems can be ordered from KSP according to your specifications.  When a job requires IC core cylinders or housings, Killeen Security Products has the products and knowhow to fill your requirements.
