BRISTOL, Conn, USA is the home to LAB Security Systems Corporation, a mid-sized manufacturing company situated in central Connecticut, holds title as the world’s largest producer of specialized lock components. The directors are now ready to launch its pinning kits in European markets.
“The locksmith business has changed a lot in Europe,” said Executive VP Jerry Roraback. Today, lock specialist are more likely to go onsite to service a customer who wants a fast fix. “A locksmith needs to be able to solve a customers’ problems quickly, accurately and most importantly economically.”
The pinning kits are designed to work with this streamlined approach, giving locksmiths the option to bring a wide array of kits to the job despite the space limitations of a van. Made with one-piece steel construction and seal-tight covers to prevent pins from migrating from pocket to pocket, the goal is to provide a compact, portable product. Kits have easy to read location charts and some feature color-coded pins that correspond to location charts.
“We have been using the Lab pins for some time” said Paddy Harney – Harney Lock and Safe, Irishtown, Athlone. IE. ” Although we have original manufacturers kits for keying up locks in the shop we find the LAB kits are an excellent back up and also great for jobs on site and in the van. We especially love the different coloured pins which makes life very handy for repining jobs on site and in a tight environment. We find the quality to be excellent and wouldn’t be without these kits in the back of our vans.”
Moving forwards these kits will be available to European locksmiths by the end of the year.
Director of New Business Development Mike Sigmund took several fact-finding trips to help LAB fine tune its repining kits for potential customers. After exhibiting at the ELF conference in Florence, Italy and meeting with clients in Copenhagen and Dublin, he says he learned a lot.
“I met with some of the top security locksmith professionals in Europe to understand their needs,” Sigmund said. Based on this, LAB’s initial product offering will be for EVVA, KABA, GEGE, CES, ABUS, CISA, ASSA, TRIOVING and RUKO. Some pinning kits will be designed for use with multiple manufacturers making the product a real space and money saver.
An example is the EVVA/KABA/GEGE kit. This kit services cylinders from all three of these manufacturers. Pins are of proper length – LAB Factory Foreman Butch Deziel assures there is no filing needed!! The pins in this kit are color-coded. Locating the proper pin is made easy with the matching color-coded location chart. All types of required pins are included. (100 per size) The compact kit features the Seal-Tite cover preventing pins from leaking or migrating from pocket to pocket. Replacement pins are available in 100 piece polybags.
Another very popular addition to the LAB product line is the ASSA 600 kit. This kit is designed to service several ASSA branded cylinders all from on compact and portable pinning kit. All of the same popular and practical features are in every pinning kit with pins and parts made specifically for these brands of cylinders according to the manufacturer specifications.
