Automotive Training Opportunities in 2025

Automotive locksmithing has entered a new, high-tech era. No longer are locksmiths making a living by purchasing a few basic tools, unlocking cars and duplicating keys. In today’s world of sophisticated electronics and pricey equipment, locksmiths need specialized training. Here are some options in the coming months. Please note that pre-registration (and often pre-payment) are required.

March 12-14: 2025 Locksmith Pro Expo

Sponsored by Key Innovations and UHS Hardware, the 2025 Locksmith Pro Expo will be held March 12-14 at the Sheraton Dallas-Fort Worth Airport in Dallas. The show will include two days of education on March 12 and 13, followed by the March 14 tradeshow.

Jan. 31-Feb. 1: 2025 Locksmith Pro Academy Road Show

In addition to their March trade show, Key Innovations and UHS Hardware are offering several automotive training courses as part of their new Locksmith Pro Academy Road Show. This session of classes will be held at the Doubletree Atlanta Northlake Hotel.

Jan. 31-Feb.: Mercedes-Benz Programming: 2-Day Advanced Automotive Locksmith Training with Jason Jaudon

Course description: Take your automotive locksmith skills to the next level with this in-depth, hands-on class focused on Mercedes-Benz immobilizer key systems. Designed for beginner and experienced locksmiths, this training will provide you with the expertise to handle some of the most sophisticated key programming and lock repair challenges.

Hands-on demonstrations of IR key programming with top tools: XHorse VVDI MB, Autel IM608, and Abrites programmers.

Chrysler Crossfire ignition lock repair and troubleshooting.

Jan. 31: BMW Key Programming with ACDP with Brian Suggs

Course description: Ready to learn all about BMW key programming? This class led by Brian Suggs will teach you everything you need to know about creating keys for BMW vehicles using the powerful ACDP tool. We’ll also explore alternative tools, providing you with a well-rounded skill set that extends beyond just one system.

Mastering BMW Key Programming with ACDP: Learn how to program keys for BMWs using ACDP, with step-by-step instruction to ensure success.
Exploring Other Tools: Get familiar with alternative tools like Abrites, VVDI2, Autohex, and others, and understand when and how to use them in different scenarios.
EEPROMing, Soldering & Protocols: Dive into essential skills such as basic module EEPROMing, soldering, and handling protocols—critical knowledge that’s valuable no matter which tools you use.

Feb. 1: Volkswagen Audi Group Vehicle Key Programming

Course description: Have you held back from taking on Volkswagen key programming jobs? Join us for this essential 8-hour course and gain the skills to program keys for the most common Volkswagen Audi Group (VAG) vehicles on the road today! Led by industry expert Brian Suggs, this class covers everything from the basics to advanced techniques. You’ll learn to navigate key aspects like Immo Types, module identification and location, essential precautions, and hands-on programming methods. This is a practical workshop with live demos and interactive discussions, ensuring you’re equipped to handle VAG programming confidently.
